Here’s what you can expect in practice:
Connect the reader inside the Lopay app via My Devices, select WisePad 3, and you’re set.
You enter an amount in the Lopay app, tap Charge, then choose Send to card reader, your customer taps or inserts, and you wait for the success confirmation.
Customers can add a tip, and you control the tip options in the Lopay app.
The reader is PCI-compliant and designed specifically for card payments.

Most people are up and running quickly. The only time you might want to give yourself a little breathing space is the first connection, because the reader may need a firmware update.
Make sure Bluetooth is on, then open the Lopay app and go to My Devices.
Tap Connect my card reader, turn on the reader, and select WisePad 3 when it appears.
If you’re on Android, you may see a pairing prompt, tap Pair.
On first connection, the reader will likely complete a firmware update that can take ~10 minutes.
Tip: Updates use a lot of battery. Keep the reader at 50%+ charge and keep the app open during the update.
Take a moment to run through the payment flow once: open Charge, enter an amount, and choose Send to card reader.
Before you hand over goods or finish the service, check the Lopay app shows the green “payment successful” confirmation.
A card reader can only be connected to one phone/tablet at a time, but you can connect the same reader to different devices at different times (disconnect first).
If you’re connecting to an iPhone or iPad, you’ll need iOS 12.5.1 or higher.
WisePad 3 is great when you want chip & PIN and a familiar checkout experience, but it’s not the only way to take payments with Lopay.
